Say Whaaat?
So my four-year-old informed me that she would prefer that I no longer tell her that I love her. She told me that it's embarrassing. When I asked why it's embarrassing, she told me that it's just irritating to her. Yes she used those two words: embarrassing and irritating. Do I really have a four-year-old on my hands or could she possibly be a teenager in a four-year-old disguise? Honestly, what do you say to that? I thought these things weren't supposed to happen til later in life? Do I have reason for concern? I'm a little wierded out right now.

Maybe it's just a phase (isn't that a parenting word that you use often on children?) Just kidding. I'm sorry that she doesn't want you to say you love her. Do you say it in a weird voice and make a funny face? Just checkin'...

haha oh what a crazy kid. I'm glad you've got it documented in the blog so you can tell it about her later in life. Maybe she'll get jealous if she hears you say I love you to Brianna all the time? Good luck, but I'm sure she'll let it go...eventually! :)

what a nut!! I love that she uses the word "irritating". This isn't the first time, right? Do you find yourself often irritated and embarrassed? Maybe she's trying to mimmick her mother's emotions.:o)

From the standpoint of a psychologist in training...I think it might be because, and I quote, "the techniques of social control and self-control sometimes produce detrimental effects, which result in inappropriate behavior and unhealthy personality development." I think the best thing for you to do is to stop controlling her...just let her do her own thing.

Ha ha ha. Just joking. I have no idea whatsoever. :) Maybe you could try explaining the reason you tell her you love her, if she knew the reasons behind it maybe it wouldn't irritate her. Good luck with that crazy adorable child of yours!

And those things will just keep coming. Just laugh. And then one day she'll want to be attached to you and tell you every second that you love her. Girls are emotional fickle wrecks and they make life an advendure. Isn't it fun?! =)

That is hilarious. Don't worry about it - just laugh it off. Girls will be girls. It was great talking with you the other day. It sounds like you're doing good. Be in touch...

I don't know where she came up with the word "irritating." Wait, maybe I do. :) I have to agree with Michelle on this one. "How embarrassing." Never heard that one before, either. She just wants to be as cool as you and also Ariel. No worries. Not even in Wasatch.

Dear Annie
